exporting cloth to the continent and importing wines from France.
Bridgwater remains at the mercy of the tides and the river Parrett has one of the fastest tides in the country.

The Old Vicarage Hotel is situated in the town of Bridgwater opposite St Mary's Church.
The building is one of only three medieval buildings in the town and though much altered, the building is basically fourteenth century and retains its original roof timbers, complete with crown post. It is thought that the building was originally built to house the workers who constructed St Mary's Church and later the vicar himself.

The Hotel has 15 En-suite rooms, all with television, clock radio,
  direct dial telephone system, 
 tea & coffee making facilities, 
fax facilities are available at the reception.
 Ground floor rooms are available with Ambient Disable facilities.
